Rob Johnson Walkin the Dog across the Border!!
You know I don't personally know Rob but he popped up on the "This is Fly" daily blog this week. He submitted a great story about his first trip to British Columbia to throw some flys and had some great pictures of the infamous Chum "DOG" Salmon. They are big nasty and ugly but when hooked pull like a monster truck in a mud bog at a weight pulling competition! Pure adrenaline! Over fished and under appreciated!!It sounded like a great father son trip more than anything! I just love his dad's ol' skool look of " YEAH NICE!! I AIN'T TOUCHIN THAT NASTY THANG!" Seeing a smile like that for a CHUM reminds me of why we even go out there. Marinate.....

STUPID SLAB OF STEEL!!
Raising the Ghost! Chrome Slabs rising to Dry Flies??
Steelheading is definitely an obsession. We spend countless hours looking for that moment in time that is just that, a moment. This is some of the sickest footage I have seen in a while. Steelhead rising to dead drifted Green Drakes? It is not suppose to happen like this...Marinate..

TFO Switch is in my scope!
“Switch Rods” are multi-task fly rods specifically designed to allow a variety of both single and two handed caster options. The primary goal of the Switch Rod is to allow the caster the ability to achieve maximum targeted forward distance with the least amount of expended energy!
At less than $350 this is a great rod for a great price and I got to have me one for sure! Shoot it's Christmas Time! Don't Hate! Marinate! Find them here at www.irishangler.com

Jones vs. Calzaghe
In my opinion, Roy Jones Jr. is the best fighter other than Ali himself and a pretty good dang fisherman. He has taken his bumps and bruises lately and I only hope that during the fight we get to see just a glimpse of what this film displays. there was a time where he was Untouchable!
The happy anachronism: a fishing blog
Found a really sweet Blog thanks to Brook Smith. Brook's site "The happy anachronism: a fishing blog" covers all kinds of topics and features some really sweet photos. Be sure to check him out.
Who's Da Man? Runnin Down the Man!
If you have never seen the film "Running Down the Man" it is worth finding and checking it out. This film sent a lot of people down south to run up and down a beach throwing flies to shadows in the water. Sometimes I think if we saw someone catch a fish Butt-Naked in some knee high church socks and the right person said it was cool that we would do it. I know I wouldn't but you might! Now Marinate!

Bunyun Eating Fish?
So I was reading the Seattle Times morning and read an article and news clip about fish that eat the "fuhmundah" cheese from your feet. Corns & Bunyan ? Not a problem! Its like the Ol' Country Buffet when you drop them feet in the tank. The great thing is that after about 1 year of chewing the crud off your feet you can then fillet and deep fry them. What a wonderful nutty flavor!! YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!!

Yeah it's time......
Many of you will never understand what the world was like at a time when the only option you understood was the option at your fingertips. It can be so easy to take the judgement of a man and stand above him in a glass house peering through with scrutiny. You see sometimes the profit you seek does not wear white linens and speak in parables. His path may not be straight and narrow. He travels blind and can only see what has been shown to him yet it does not mean he can't learn to see.
Emory Jones is a brother to me. I understood him growing up and saw the true "E" for who he was, not what he was supposed to be. We all have one. A family member or friend that had all the tools but never learned how to show the world that they could use them. So they used them the best way they knew how. I have no need to defend or justify his actions or decisions because it is not my role. I just believe he should be free.
This is to riding to school and listening to my mixtapes in the Sundance
This is to bringing the Nike AirForce 1 years before the world heard it in a song
This is to seeing you in Waugh Church
This is to growing up in Hip Hop together
This is to kicking it when you didn't have to
This is for always shouting me out as "REV" before there was a "Rev"
This is to Mr. Sydnor's math class
This is for not getting mad when I ruined a pair of your jeans with my artistic designs
This is for always keeping me clear of trouble when you knew I didn't belong
This is to trashing the Elite 250 scooter on the trail over by St. Clair
This is to being one of filthiest FullBacks that never really focused on it
This is for always believing in me
This is for you
You are already free....They just need to open the door and let you out..

Luke 5:4 RIP Ivan Neymour
I often talk of those on the back of the boat not getting the credit they deserve from those on the front of the boat. Recently the angling world lost one of it's finest makers of magical moment in Ivan Neymour. Many man and women have graced a magazine cover with him on the pole. Many a women and man have touched a Bonefish for the first time because of him too. Peace and love to all his family and friends.

Big Killah! My boy Dee is back on the scene!
So I been dragging my feet on getting this pic out there of my boy Dee and this monster smallie he caught on our last day of fishing. You had to be there to appreciate the hook set and the scream of "GOT EM!'" A classic moment for a Virginia citation. He is sending me some pics and I think we'll feature the entire week. BTW we talked the other night and out of the same hole he has continued snatch big faces including a 7 pounder last week!! Like Hot Cakes and Cornflakes its all day everyday with this cat! Marinate

I aint afraid of you M*&^!(%^(!#R Rest in peace Bernie...
An Icon for Modern African Americans comedian, actor and humanitarian Bernie Mac passed away at the age of 50 from Sarcoidosis. Though comedy opened the door, once he was in the room he commanded that attention of all ears to educate, and change the world as he saw it. So often the talented, intelligent, ambitious and dedicated people of this planet are snatched away only to be appreciated and understood later in life when we can only read the purpose of their life on a piece of granite. In heaven there will be laughter because Bernie has walked through the gates and open arms await him...
In every person's life there is a moment that marks that day when you had to make it happen. This is that performance for Bernie Mac....BE CAREFUL EXPLICIT..but fun none the less..

It's 90 Degrees 90% Humidity and The Whelps from the Skeeters are only gettin larger! What do you do?
If you fish the east coast in the summer you know what comes with it. 95 degree days with 90% humidity. If you come where I come from you also have to consider the raptors that someone has genealogically labelled "Mosquito's". By the end of the day, a T-shirt sticks to you and believing you will go long sleeved in that heat will leave you in the ER dehydrated or hooked on Gatorade. So the guys designed this shirt made, for the most humid of days, out of Star Trek uniform space age materials to handle the job. You might have seen one that looks like it. Well that's because the design works. Who doesn't need a pocket on their chest that can hold a fly box, your license or a digital camera? Just remember, Capt. J. T. Kirk probably would have been arrived Butt Naked after a "Beaming" if not for the special molecular design of his garments. Dammit Jim a just a Fisherman! Now Marinate!

In honor of Dee's Uncle
Today I was down at Bissell Park in Radford and met Dee and his cousin. Dee's uncle had just passed and the two of them had spent time with him throughout his life chasing big Smallies with him when on the New River. So today they decided, in memory and honor of him, they would go where he most likely would want to be, On the New River with them chasing Smallies.
It's so easy sometimes to forget that this passion we have has been very instrumental in the lessons of life and the tribal knowledge that is passed is only surpassed by the quality of time we spend together. Watching these two have a lights out day really reminded me that it's really not about the fishing but about the memories and the people we become between the tugs. Today is today live it like there is no tommorrow. Flavor to the bone...Marinate in honor of..
Shoot we missed the high tide!
So we planned to fish one of my favorite saltwater spots on the eastern shore of Maryland, unfortunately we where just a little late on the high tide. So though we didn't have a great shot at catching monster Atlantic Croakers, Seatrout and Stripers my boys failed to allow a low tide stop them. Its amazing to watch my boys throw line. Watching them study for a tug really brings the core of this passion to the surface..Marinate.
Black Outdoorsman Magazine
After several years of working together CK West, the editor in Chief of Black Outdoorsman Magazine, and myself finally hook up while I was visiting the east coast. BOM is an online magazine working the "Black Granola Movement". Check out the online edition now cause word is print is on the way...Marinate..
