The folks at Cristal Clear Rentals have things in check from the time you ge tthere to the time you leave. Something about South Florida Heat in July makes me tingle...Marinate!!

While at Spey-O-Rama is San Fransisco a couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to to cast the new rods from Beulah. One in particular that really impressed me was the 7/8 Bluewater Series. So you ever want to go to a fly shop away from your home waters and get the honest truth about where and what to fish? Usually you are only given directions on a napkin, sold a bunch of flies that you already have but "these are particular to this area and rivers", get lost from bad directions and arrive at your location only to find the other 5 guys you saw at the shop fishing with frustration. Well last week the boys in Redding showed us true professionalism. With all the options available in Redding they not only gave us detailed printed directions with maps, but told us exactly what we needed to fish, was open when we needed them to be, and actually put us onto fish. I was surely impressed by the work they did for us. Not only that but it was the largest selection of flies I had ever seen in one shop ever!! So after spending 6 days fishing this with my 10' 5 weight while doing some deep nymphing I must say that I was thoroughly impressed! It floats like baby oil and every cast feels as if it wants to jump entirely off your line only to tip toe on the waters surface. Oh yeah there is a Steelhead taper coming. Word is that all the SA lines will soon have the Sharkskin technology. This stuff makes you look good just ny putting it on the spool. Marinate!

So my boy Ian has been killing them "In the cut" of eastern Oregon. Check out one of many beautiful Hatchery Steelhead he got this year. Ian and I have fished together for a long time and he now lives on some of the sweetest "In the Cut" water you can imagine. Hatchery Brats look even better on the grill..Marinate!

Oh the good ol' days! Anyway I knew he was going to do some slaying and of course he does. A typical day in South Florida. "In the cut" - A hidden body of water or section of water that you ain't trying to tell anyone about. Even if they know, you still don't want them to talk to you about it, think about it and most importantly, dream about it. They might think of fishing it without you or worst you go to fish it and find them there!!

AKA- Location "X" but that is played out and says " Follow me I got a secret spot!"

Usage - " I was killin them today in the cut !"

When asked "Where were you fishing today" Simply reply "Ohh..Off in the cut!!" and walk away..

Coming up on the mighty Choptank River I saw many a man of color on the water pullin pots. They get their hustle like everybody else. One thing about the water, it is not color specific...Marinate!

The shallowest bottoms have no chance!! I have always dreamed of using an Alumaweld Super Vee River sled back east to play around in some of those shallow water back bays and those areas where a low tide cuts you off from productive water. In the meanwhile I am satisfied with the idea that I don't need to row when on the tiller! Marinate!!
