Washington Irving (1783-1859) was the first American literary artist to earn his living solely through his writings and the first to enjoy international acclaim. He is also author of one of my favorite stories "The Black Fisherman" If you have never read this storie it is imperative that you take a peek....You may also know him from such tales as Sleepy Hollow and Hiawatha... Funny who gets a movie and who doesn't....Marinate...
